    Sustainable Cities and Communities

    The Global Council on SDG11 is part of the United Nations development Programme. The Global Council on SDG 11 aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. The vision of the council is to catalyze and accelerate the achievement of SDG11 by 2030.

  • Global Happiness Council

    The Global Happiness Council (GHC) is a new global network of leading academic specialists in happiness and key practitioners in areas ranging from psychology, economics, urban planning, civil society, business and government. The GHC identifies best practices at the national and local levels to encourage advancement of the causes of happiness and well-being.

    Council members oversee the work of six thematic groups (education, workplace, personal happiness, public health, city design and management) who each produce a chapter of policy recommendations in the Global Happiness Policy Report, published annually and presented at the World Government Summit (WGS) in support the Global Dialogue for Happiness. This report provides evidence and policy advice to participating governments on best practices to promote happiness and well-being.

    The work of the Council will be complementary to the World Happiness Reports and other research on the measurement and explanation of happiness. The aim of the GHC is to survey and share best practice policies drawn from the research literature and government experiences around the globe.

    Hyperledger is an open source collaborative effort created to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies. It is a global collaboration, hosted by The Linux Foundation, including leaders in finance, banking, Internet of Things, supply chains, manufacturing and Technology.

  • ITU Focus Group on Data Processing and Management

    Working Group 5 – Data Economy Impact, Commercialization and Monetization

    The Focus Group on Data Processing and Management to support IoT and Smart Cities & Communities was established by ITU-T Study Group 20. The main objective of this focus- group is to identify data economy modeling, analysis data economy impact and sustainability, and look into the policy implications of data economy, commercialization, and monetization.

  • ITU Study Group 20

    Q7

    Study Group 20 (SG20) is working to address the standardization requirements of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, with an initial focus on IoT applications in smart cities and communities (SC&C).

    SG20 develops international standards to enable the coordinated development of IoT technologies, including machine-to-machine communications and ubiquitous sensor networks. A central part of this study is the standardization of end-to-end architectures for IoT, and mechanisms for the interoperability of IoT applications and datasets employed by various vertically oriented industry sectors.

  • UAE AI Council

    The UAE AI Council aims to identify how and where AI can be incorporated in government and the required supporting infrastructure as well as investigates its incorporation at different levels of education. The ten-member UAE Council for Artificial Intelligence is chaired by His Excellency Omar Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence. The council includes representatives from every Emirate.

  • United for Smart Sustainable Cities

    Working Group - City Science Application Framework

    The United for Smart Sustainable Cities (U4SSC) initiative is a UN initiative supported by 16 UN agencies and programmes to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 11: "Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable." The U4SSC serves as the global platform to advocate for public policy and to encourage the use of ICTs to facilitate and ease the transition to smart sustainable cities.

    Smart Dubai leads the working group that aims to formulate an urban problem solving framework by utilizing advanced modeling, optimization and mathematical techniques.

    Working Group - Guidelines on Strategies for Circular Cities

    The United for Smart Sustainable Cities (U4SSC) initiative is a UN initiative supported by 16 UN agencies and programmes to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 11: "Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable." The U4SSC serves as the global platform to advocate for public policy and to encourage the use of ICT to facilitate and ease the transition to smart sustainable cities. Smart Dubai leads the working group that aims to formulate guidelines on strategies for circular cities and identify best practices globally.

  • WEF Future Councils

    Global Future Council on Cities and Urbanization

    The Global Future Council on Cities and Urbanization aims to identify and understand the systemic problems encountered by cities and how to best apply solutions in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

    The initiative will collate best practices, including cross sectoral city data to identify and analyze the systematic impacts resulting from urbanization and demonstrate that cities are living, breathing organisms that operate as systems.
